AT&T raises the rates

AT&T has announced that effective September 1, they will be raising the rates on calls to the 'Palestinian Authority' due to "increasing costs associated with terminating calls in the Palestinian Authority." I think that means "the Israelis don't maintain the lines anymore."

GASP! You mean to say the EVIL ZIONIST ENTITY has been providing telephone line service to it's Palestian VICTIMS?! (plus electricity service and hospital treatment for many Palestinians in Israeli hospitals.)

There must be some insidious Zionist plot behind all that! Poisoned electrons in the electricity; tapping every call to/from/within the West Bank; planting Zionist electronic locator chips in the patients; etc., etc.

Another thought: It might also mean the Palestinian Authority is now jacking up AT&T for "user fees" or "utility tax" or some other euphemism for "kickbacks to help finance Hamas 'democracy'".

I agree with Dave's second thought. If it were just non-maintenance, the call would not go through.
Simple.
If, on the gripping hand, it is extortion or kickbacks, then ATT has to ge tthe money from people making the calls.

right now i'm on phone with rep from ATT. he doens't know the reason for the change,

hes looking it up

ok heres what i found out from him

back in 1999, provisions were put in place to give Palest Auth their own country code (970). It was just implemented. P.A. country zone now in effect.

city codes 22, 42, 52, 82 and 92 correspond to the following cities: Al-Toufah, Bethlehem, Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah (but the document the rep found did not link any specific city code with one of those 5 cities. He said document needed to be updated)/

Reason for the increase in price: The price for completing a call is determened by the country where the call terminates. Friendly governments often have low rates (i.e, Europe). Not so friendly govenments; not so friendly rates.
