Woman murdered for 'family honor'

There's been another 'honor killing' in 'Palestine' this morning. This time the offense isn't having an affair with a non-Muslim or having relations out of wedlock - it's being 'romantically involved' with a member of the wrong family.

A 38-year-old woman was shot and killed in the Arab village of Jisser a-Zarka early Wednesday morning while she was on her way to work.

It was suspected that the motive for the killing was family honor , according to residents of the place.

According to initial inquiries, the 18-year-old daughter of the woman who was murdered was romantically involved with a man from a rival family.

Police were searching for the shooters, who were suspected to be from the rival family, but were also concerned that riots would erupt in the village, and have deployed large forces that are already at the scene.

The two families had reportedly been involved in violent confrontations in the past due to the relationship between the two.

The head of Women Against Violence, a Haifa-based organization of Israeli Arab women, an average of about 10 Israeli Arab women become victims of family honor killings.

The 'religion of peace' strikes again.
