Shin Bet officials, in issuing details today, insist that this is all true – and not an Israeli invention aimed at jamming a huge wedge between Hamas and the P.A. The officials deny any connection with the fact that all day Monday, there was high tension over not knowing if a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas would be extended to allow for more negotiations in Cairo.In other words, along with the report, the Shin Bet felt obligated to issue a denial that they were making the coup story up.

In a statement quoted on Channel 2 News, Abbas said that the implications of the revealed plot “will be serious for the Palestinian and regional situation, especially after Israeli officials published a list and pictures of confiscated weapons."
Abbas stressed that the reports endanger the unity of the Palestinian people as its leadership tries to form a unity government.
"We are living in the shadow of the war in Gaza and under the shadow of the presence of a unity government, which is why this new information is a real danger to the unity of the Palestinian people and its future," he said, according to Channel 2 News.Hmmm. I wonder whether Abu Mazen realizes yet that the 'unity government' is just another way Hamas is trying to take over the 'Palestinian Authority.'
What could go wrong?

I think he does take it rather seriously, and it would explain why he sent his entire family to Jordan.
