And again: Suicide terror attack in Dimona - UPDATE: Fatah's Al-Aqsa claims responsibility

Israel Radio reports that there's been a suicide terror attack in Dimona. Three people are dead - one of them may be the terrorist. Five people were wounded. This happened in the "old commercial center."

Update 11:09 AM

Israel now reporting four dead (which may include the suicide terrorist) and six or seven wounded. There was also a second suicide terrorist who was liquidated by a police officer before he could set off his bomb.

Dimona is in southern Israel and these terrorists likely came from Gaza and entered Sinai while the Gaza - Sinai border was open. Israel's border with Sinai is porous as I have noted previously. It is half an hour drive from Beersheba, which you see on this map:

The 'Palestinians' have confirmed that there were two suicide bombers, but no group has taken responsibility yet.

Update 11:15 AM

According to an eyewitness, the second suicide terrorist was liquidated half an hour after the suicide bomber who 'succeeded' set off his bomb. The bomb went off forty-five minutes ago.

Update 11:19 AM

Dimona is just about due southeast of Beersheba. As a I noted, it's half an hour drive, and the first victims are just arriving at the Soroka hospital in Beersheba, the only one in the area.

Israel Radio's reporter is now saying four killed including both terrorists. Let's hope that number includes the terrorists.

Update 11:21 AM

The 'successful' terrorist had 5-10 kilograms of explosives.

Update 11:24 AM

Arutz Sheva notes that there are many Bedouin tribes in the area, and the Bedouin have been helping the smugglers.

Israel Radio is now reporting that both Hezbullah's al-Manar television and the Maan News Agency are both saying that 'moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen's Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades has taken responsibility along with the PFLP and an 'unknown' terror group.

(I'm trying to get a link from Maan's site but it's overloaded right now.

Israel now confirming only two Israelis killed, but there is another person who is in 'critical' condition being transported to Soroka Hospital by helicopter.

Update 11:48 AM

Eleven wounded have been evacuated to Soroka - eight light, two 'moderate' and one 'serious.'

The police officer who shot the second terrorist has not yet gotten permission to speak to the media, but they spoke to him off-mike and he said that the second terrorist had been knocked out by the first terrorist's blast, that when he saw him reach for the trigger he shot him in the head, and when he continued to try to reach for the bomb belt's trigger, he shot him four more times until he was dead.

The police officer deserves a medal.

Update 11:55 AM

Here's a map that shows Dimona.

Let's release some more terrorists, eh Ehud?

Update 11:57 AM

Here's Maan's report Note that - contrary to what Israel Radio reported - it does not mention al-Aqsa:
The military wing of the Islamic Jihad, the Al-Quds Brigades told Ma'an that their fighters conducted the operation in cooperation with the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades.
Update 12:03 PM

Hamas and Islamic Jihad are handing out candies in the streets of Gaza.

Update 12:06 PM

For those who have forgotten Dimona is where Israel's alleged nuclear reactor is located. That may be why I had trouble finding a map that shows it.

Update 12:18 PM

Israel Radio just carried an interview with an Arabic radio station with someone identified as the head of Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Gaza who said that the 'Palestinians' should be proud that they succeeded in penetrating the 'most protected city in Israel.'

They also said that a minister in Salam Fayad's 'government' told al-Jazeera that the suicide bombing was Israel's fault and that the attack was revenge for Israel's blockade against Gaza.

No reaction yet from Abu Mazen or Salam Fayad.

Update 12:38 PM

Israel Radio is reporting that only person was killed, but there is another in critical condition in the hospital. The other two bodies were only terrorists.

Maan has now changed its report and is confirming that Fatah was responsible. Maan belongs to Fatah:
Three groups, including Fatah's armed wing, the Al-Aqsa Brigades, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine's (PFLP) armed wing, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, and a new group calling themselves the United Resistance Brigades, claimed joint responsibility for the attack.

An Al-Aqsa Brigades spokesperson told Ma'an that a bomber blew himself up before a group of fighters clashed with Israeli security in the area. [That's nonsense. CiJ]

He also announced that two fighters have been killed, confirming that they came from the Gaza Strip. The spokesperson denied Israeli reports that the bombers came through the Sinai Peninsula.

According to the spokesperson, the operation was called "the Promise of Those True to Their Words." He said that the operation came in retaliation for the Israeli siege of the Gaza Strip.
I know. Let's give them a state reichlet.

I have long ago decided that since every terrorist faction jockeys for position to boast their claims of responsibility for their animal actions, that we should apply the old saying "kill 'em all and let G-d sort 'em out."

But we seem not to learn from experience any more.

Ehud Olmert is also the stupidest man in Israel's history. He said the negotiations with the "good" PA terrorists will continue. Dead Jews mean nothing to a government without a moral compass and which the country can't hold responsible for its conduct.

There are three courses of action that should be immediately taken.

First, all political interactions with the 'palis' must cease. You can't negotiate with someone politically, when they are aiming political violence against you.

Second, an operation to destroy terrorists should be mounted. Sweeping from northern Gazastan on downward. Gazastanians should be warned that any inhabitants of Gazastan will assumed to be hostile, and will be dealt with appropriately. Blast open the border with our friend, Egypt, and start pushing from the other end.

Third, a barrier wall with monitoring, countermeasures, must be built across the border with our friend, Egypt.

The 'palis' must pay a political price for their stupidity. The response has to be disproportionate. Unless you want to keep on with a tit-for-tat for all eternity.

It is time to win this war they impose upon you. Stop wasting time and go after them. While you are at it, shame them diplomatically, pointing out that while political negotiations are in place, that political violence has no place. Further, shame the 'palis' leadership by making the public case that had they had control over their military, that this should not have happened. Since they don't have control over their military, precisely what is the point of negotiating with them?

I don't expect Olmert to do any of these. And I expect Condi to be warning Israel about harsh reprisals.

It is in Israel's best interests to completely ignore Condi, and make sure the 'Palis' comprehend what a harsh reprisal means.

Fatah claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. Of course Israel's current government considers it impolitic to point out the identity of the homocide terrorists. Its only reason for existence is negotiations with the "good" terrorists of the PA. The weakness of the Olmert-Barak-Livni government is going to lead to a lot of bloodshed this year and more Jews will die.

All because Israelis were to apathetic to demand that it resign from office.

Hard to keep up with all the Fatah terrorism, yet the US funds, arms, trains, and supports them. Arlene Kushner's 28-page pdf report: Fatah as "Moderate"

Arlene Kushner's material was seized as "subversive" and she was detained by Israeli police in Jerusalem last month for having the termerity to expose the true nature of Fatah. Which the Olmert-Barak-Livni government goes to great lengths to avoid revealing to the Israeli people. I'd bet Fatah's terrorist activities get little to no exposure in the government-controlled Hebrew state media.
